Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”) presented long-time partner Community Health Alliance (“CHA”) with a $150,000 grant toward the expansion of the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road in Reno. The grant will contribute to a 4,000-square-foot addition, enabling the federally qualified health center to serve an additional 4,000 Nevadans, bringing its total capacity to 7,500 patients.
“We are grateful for Molina’s generous support, which is helping us more than double the number of individuals we can serve at the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road,” said Oscar Delgado, chief executive officer at Community Health Alliance. “This investment allows us to deliver quality, essential care to even more individuals regardless of income or insurance status, furthering our goal of creating a healthier future for Reno.”
According to a community health assessment from Washoe County, nearly 23% of respondents reported being unable to see a primary care physician, general practitioner, or family doctor in the past year despite needing care. Through the expansion of the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road, CHA will extend care to even more individuals through new medical exam rooms and provider offices, dedicated spaces for behavioral health care, an on-site pharmacy, and a prescription food pantry.
“The expansion of the Nell J. Redfield Health Center on Neil Road advances Molina's commitment to breaking down barriers to care and improving health outcomes,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “Providing food and pharmacy assistance all in one place helps save time and eases the patient burden, while also addressing important non-medical drivers that lead to healthier Nevadans.”
The grant partnership with CHA is part of Molina’s investment of more than $700,000 to various community-based organizations across Nevada, aimed at improving access to care throughout the Silver State.
The Nell J. Redfield Health Center is located at 3915 Neil Road in Reno, Nevada. Hours of operation can be found here.
