New Perspectives offers a unique design in terms of life coaching. They employ a motivational approach based on current research and best practices.
Rather than isolating students from real-life situations and experiences, the New Perspectives team immerses young adults in the local community. This approach seeks to help students feel engaged in living real life, starting on day one, adds the company.
At New Perspectives, free choice is also focused. Young adults are given the right to choose. They explained that, “When students feel they have a choice, it is easier to establish trust, creating greater potential for cooperation and willingness to accept guidance and constructive feedback.”
New Perspectives likewise provides in-the-moment coaching and support in more natural environments. They veer away from traditional in-office counseling sessions. The life coaching center also provides an individualized approach to independent living. “Rather than a formulaic, cookie-cutter program schedule, we place emphasis on every student having a unique, individualized plan,” New Perspectives states.
According to program founders Justin and Janet Robinso, the Young Adult Value Journey comprises three phases or parts: Growth and Balance Plan, Levels of Support and Success Team.
The Personalized Growth and Balance Plan is not a one-time event but an on-going process involving five important phases: Envision, Assess, Strategize, Commit, and Review. Following the plan, the next step is identifying what level of support is needed. They match the students’ needs to the optimal amount of support and structure crucial to creating an environment where young adults thrive.
Lastly, young adults are assigned to their respective “Success Team.” It comprises members from the New Perspectives staff and community members.
