Viamedia Comments on NCTA Amicus Brief Filing in Viamedia’s $500 Million Antitrust Claim vs. Comcast

Viamedia, the leading cross-media local advertising company, issued the following company statement in response to the October 13, 2020, filing with the United States Supreme Court of a brief by the NCTA – the Internet & Television Association as amicus curiae in support of Comcast’s petition for a writ of certiorari relative to the February 2020 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit reinstating Viamedia’s antitrust lawsuit against Comcast (Case 18-2852):

“As we noted in our September 8 comment on Comcast’s petition to the U.S. Supreme Court for a writ of certiorari, the cable television advertising ‘Interconnects’ were intended to provide for a fair, inclusive, efficient and competitive marketplace for advertisers, cable operators and consumers. We believe in Interconnects as long as they are properly administered by the Interconnect manager on behalf of current and prospective cable operators which compete for advertising dollars as well as video and broadband subscribers. A great modern example is the New York City Interconnect which features independent management, a board of directors and oversight designed to help ensure fair and competitive pricing, proper inventory allocation and full participation from all area cable operators.”

In February, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit revived Viamedia's $500 million antitrust claim against Comcast, remanding the case for jury trial. Viamedia commented on that decision, and provided a timeline of the case, on February 26. Viamedia did not comment on the other amicus briefs filed on Comcast’s behalf as they were effectively the same as filed in the 7th Circuit.

Viamedia is represented in its lawsuit by Kellogg Hansen Todd Figel & Frederick PLLC.
