AppRiver Expanding to Atlanta, Georgia

AppRiver, a leading provider of email messaging and Web security solutions, today announced it is opening a branch location in Atlanta, Georgia in order to tap into the area’s rich pool of talented software developers and other information technology professionals.

The fast-growing 12-year-old company opened its doors on June 1 in Midtown’s Regions Plaza, which is located adjacent to Georgia Institute of Technology and the world-renowned Georgia Tech Information Security Center. The company plans to start recruiting immediately from the school and from among the highly skilled workforce in the area.

AppRiver CEO and President Michael Murdoch, an Atlanta native, co-founded AppRiver with CTO Joel Smith in 2002 with a mission to provide subscription-based cloud services to businesses of all sizes. In the 12 years since, the two men have expanded the product portfolio to include a full suite of award-winning IT security solutions that now protects more than 8.5 million mailboxes for 47,000 businesses around the globe.

The Atlanta office opening comes on the heels of AppRiver’s expansion to Austin, Texas. Internationally, AppRiver opened its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Lupfig, Switzerland in 2012 to keep pace with its overseas customer base and plans to open another office in Barcelona, Spain in the summer. Now the company’s focus is on growing its team of developers and engineers in order to claim a larger share of the cloud security market.
