Fed's balance sheet reached new high in latest week

NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Reserve's balance sheet rose to a new high in the latest week, as the U.S. central bank increased its Treasury holdings as part of its $600 billion quantitative easing program, Fed data released on Thursday showed.
