Syracuse, Utah, United States - 09-25-2022 (PR Distribution™) -
Elevations RTC utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as one of the many therapeutic approaches they use to treat teenagers enrolled in their program. The Utah-based residential treatment center has several different approaches to therapy, and the overall effectiveness of DBT shines.
With each passing year, the staff at Elevations RTC sees students with problems regulating their emotions or poor emotional communication skills respond well to DBT. In a 2014 study, it was found that 77% of participants no longer met the criteria for BPD diagnosis after undergoing DBT treatment. It’s a very effective approach.
The DBT program Elevations RTC offers is connected with four primary skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These primary skills are useful in everyday life and can help the students develop more effective coping skills, better regulate their moods and emotions, and improve how they communicate their emotions with others, especially with their families.
All Primary Therapists at Elevations RTC have been trained and certified through the Linehan Institute, where DBT was developed. They utilize these skills in individual, family, and group therapy. DBT is also utilized within the student's teams on a daily basis, and a weekly DBT group run by one of our certified therapists is available for those who need extra support and education.
Parents also participate in beginner, and advanced video conference groups called DBT Skills Group with the Clinical Director, Jennifer Maddock. Parents learn more about the DBT program so they can have more effective conversations with their child as their teen progresses in the program and how to apply it in their own lives.
To learn more about their parent program, visit Elevations RTC’s YouTube channel. Jennifer Maddock goes in depth into how that program works and its benefits for the family.
