Abrams to lead cross-sector growth as exploitation risks escalate globally
EverFree, a human rights organization that supports survivors of exploitation through data-driven, survivor-led solutions, has named Kristen Abrams as Senior Advisor. A seasoned nonprofit leader and international human rights advocate, Abrams will provide high-level strategic counsel and leadership, with a focus on expanding institutional partnerships and supporting organizational growth. Her two decades of experience in aligning public, private, and civil society efforts will help EverFree deepen its impact at a time of increasing need in the global movement to end exploitation.
“Kristen brings a rare combination of legal expertise, cross-sector leadership, and deep commitment to justice,” said Kelsey Morgan, Co-Founder and CEO of EverFree. “Her experience designing large-scale programs, working with government and multilateral institutions, and championing survivor-centered solutions will directly enhance our ability to scale our work and create lasting freedom for more people.”
Abrams most recently served as Chief Program Officer at the McCain Institute, where she directed programs on global democracy, human rights, and leadership. She previously served as Senior Director of the McCain Institute’s Combatting Human Trafficking program and Managing Director of the Buffett-McCain Institute Initiative to Combat Modern Slavery. Prior to her work at the McCain Institute, she founded and led a consultancy advising philanthropies and organizations on how to meet global human rights challenges. She also oversaw international pro bono programs at DLA Piper, where she focused on rule of law, economic development, and women’s rights across Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
"EverFree's mission deeply resonates with my own: Creating a world where freedom lasts and human rights are upheld,” said Abrams. “By grounding the organization in the lived experiences of survivors and committing to using data to drive sustainable, scalable impact, the EverFree team has achieved some of the most meaningful advances toward ending exploitation. I can’t wait to contribute to an organization that leads with compassion, courage, and a clear vision for lasting freedom."
Abrams’ appointment comes at a critical time for EverFree and the broader movement. Global crises, including rising conflict-driven exploitation, heavy reliance on forced labor in supply chains, and mounting funding challenges for frontline organizations, have created an urgent need for collaboration across sectors.
EverFree is meeting that moment with technologies like Freedom Lifemap, which expands the organization’s ability to scale high-quality, survivor-informed care. Since launching Freedom Lifemap in August 2024, 2,492 Freedom Lifemaps have been conducted for 1,870 survivors and vulnerable individuals, with 24 organizations worldwide actively using the tool to strengthen their data.
