athenahealth, a leading provider of network-enabled software and services for medical groups and health systems nationwide, today announced it has made the decision not to attend the 2021 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition from August 9-13, 2021, in Las Vegas due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Nevada and growing concerns regarding the Delta variant. athenahealth will continue to participate in the conference virtually.
As a leading player in the healthcare industry, and in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, athenahealth felt it was prudent to re-evaluate its participation in the event. In an effort to protect the safety of its employees and the broader public, athenahealth concluded that attending the conference in-person presented an avoidable risk.

Over the last two months, athenahealth and its partners have spent a considerable amount of time and effort preparing for the conference. As an active member of HIMSS, athenahealth looks forward to engaging with the healthcare IT community virtually this year and in-person in March 2022.
To provide access to some of the content and resources for the conference, athenahealth partnered with HIMSS to develop a virtual HIMSS booth for registered attendees.
