ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS.
On October 9, 2007, Citizens, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the
Company intends to offer 6,500,000 shares of its Class A common stock in a public offering pursuant
to a shelf registration statement originally filed on June 5, 2007. The Company also expects to
grant the underwriters an option to purchase an additional 975,000 shares of Class A common stock
to cover over-allotments, if any. This press release is filed as Exhibit 99.4 to this Current
Report and incorporated by reference as if set forth in full.
