Item 8.01. Other Events.
     On May 3, 2006, the Board of Directors of Starbucks Corporation, upon the recommendation of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board, appointed Javier G. Teruel as Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board. Mr. Teruel was appointed to fill the vacancy created when the Audit and Compliance Committee’s former Chair, Gregory B. Maffei, resigned from the Board and the Committee effective March 3, 2006.
