Item 2.05 Costs Associated with Exit or Disposal Activities.
As part of its ongoing rationalization and consolidation of its North American operations to reduce excess capacity, reduce costs and improve overall efficiency, Tower Automotive, Inc. (the “Company”) committed to the following action on October 5, 2005. The Company notified employees at its Milwaukee, WI facility that production of the Ford Ranger Truck frame would be moved to its Bellevue, OH facility. Production in Milwaukee will end in March 2006.
Total estimated costs associated with this action amounts to approximately $6 million, which is comprised of employee termination benefits of $4 million, asset impairment charges of $1 million and other costs of $1 million. Future cash expenditures for these actions are estimated at $5 million. These amounts do not include approximately $8 million of cash expenditures to move and install equipment in Bellevue.
As part of this ongoing process, the Company may undertake additional actions in the future to rationalize and consolidate its operations.
