VeriSign, Inc., a Delaware corporation (the “Company”), announced that Louis A. Simpson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Capital Operations, of GEICO Corporation, has been appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors, effective May 31, 2005. The Company also announced that William A. Roper, Jr., who has served on the Company’s Board of Directors since November 2003, was appointed Lead Independent Director.
