PRESS RELEASE
SAPIENS PETITIONS COURT IN
CONNECTION WITH LIEN
IMPOSED BY THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF SCIENTIST
Cary, N.C. June 4, 2009 Sapiens International Corporation N.V. (NASDAQ and TASE: SPNS) (Sapiens or Company), a leading global provider of innovative business solutions that modernize business processes and enable insurance organizations to adapt quickly to change, and a member of the Formula (NASDAQ: FORTY and TASE: FORT) Group, today announced that it has filed a petition with the Israeli High Court of Justice requesting an interim order to remove a lien in the amount of approximately NIS13 million (approximately $3.3 million) imposed by the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Industry and Trade (OCS) on certain of Sapiens bank accounts, and to prevent the OCS from taking any further actions against the Company. The matter involves a historic dispute between Sapiens and the OCS concerning royalty payments which the OCS claims is owing to the OCS in connection with past grants received by Sapiens from the OCS.
Sapiens and its legal advisors are of the view that the lien was not imposed in accordance with applicable law and that Sapiens is not liable to the OCS for the amount claimed.
Following filing of the petition, the court decided to request the State Attorneys Office to respond to the petition on behalf of the OCS within five days. Soon after the decision of the court, the OCS issued a notice stating it is freezing the lien until further notice in light of discussions between the parties. Sapiens intends to strongly defend the OCS claim.
