NETANYA, Israel June 15, 2006 Matav-Cable Systems Media Ltd. (NASDAQ & TASE: MATV) announced today that on June 14, 2006 a lawsuit and an application to recognize the suit as a class action were filled against Matav, Golden Channels & Co. and Tevel Israel International Communications Ltd. (the Cable Companies) and D.B.S. Satellite Services (1998) Ltd (YES) in the Tel-Aviv-Jaffa District Court. The plaintiffs alledge, inter alia, that the Cable Companies and YES included advertisements in the Mondial Tournament )World Cap) broadcasts and therefore the plaintiffs and the members of the class in action incurred damages. The plaintiffs seek to represent a group of approximately 200,000 subscribers which acquired the Mondial Tournament broadcasts and claim damages in the total sum of NIS 106,000,000.
Matav is in the initial stage of reviewing and evaluating this lawsuit.
Matav is one of Israels three cable television providers, serving roughly 25 percent of the Israeli cable subscriber market. Matavs current investments include 1.2% of Partner Communications Ltd., a GSM mobile phone company and 18.5% of Barak I.T.C. (1995) Ltd., one of the three international telephony providers in Israel.
