Item 7.01.    Regulation FD Disclosure.
 
On May 22, 2009, Unum Group issued a press release announcing an increase in the dividend on its common stock from a quarterly rate of $0.075 per share to $0.0825 per share. A copy of the press release is furnished herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
