Dallas, Texas Dec 15, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - What: Unity Unlimited Inc, the producers of Opal's Walk for Freedom and Juneteenth Strong Community Celebration with Dr.Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, will host their annual Secret Santa Distribution Day, a private distribution giving program for grandparents who are now raising their grandchildren due to various circumstances. Unity Unlimited, Inc. has several programs that uplift families, making sure underprivileged children experience the joy of Christmas.
In collaboration with the Fort Worth Independent School District Engagement Specialists who ensure program participant eligibility, the program is sponsored this year by JCPenney, Addias, Fidelity Charitable Foundation, Como Lion Heart and other community based organizations like Fort Worth Police Department who helped to move the wrapped gifts from BakerChapel AME Church the "Santa's workshop" location. Together our main priority is to provide clothing, shoes, coats, and undergarments for the children, followed by toys to enhance their Christmas experience and the freedom of celebrating the joy of the season.
Why: Started more than 10 years ago by program chair Dorothea Patterson-Davis who was asked to help a grandmother provide Christmas for five children whose mother was arrested right before the holiday, the program has grown exponentially this year to provide 266 families with gifts to 480 children which is up from last year's 88 families and 127 children which is over a 200 percent increase! Next year they plan to award a college scholarship to a graduating senior who was a past participant in the program.

- Food distribution by Midwest Food Bank
