With Liberty and Justice for All considers the ongoing relevance of addressing America's historical past in the context of modern technology, communication, and social discourse. Following a fictional string of events, this book reflects the broader societal dialogue on how to confront historical injustices and work toward a more equitable and just future.
What we are witnessing in real-time today is affecting us in a way that is detrimental to our survival. Taking sides is not the way out, but facing our demons and dealing with them at all costs is.
The problem with America isn't race; it's greed disguised as race. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
About the Author
Akelo Luo loves community involvement and helping others add value to one's own life! She teaches her children and grandchildren that helping others keeps you humble; it's only by the grace of God that you have what you have.
Family is everything to Akelo but being honest with her children is more valuable than what she can give them. She wants to write this book to leave a legacy for them. Akelo volunteers at the church food bank, homeless shelters, and community events where the homeless are the targeted audience. She is a member of the Lion's Club, and volunteers with Embrace Life and Embrace Grace and Youth For Christ/Juvenile Justice Ministry.
Akelo was a paraeducator for about four years, until January 2023. She worked with veterans as a Veteran Service Officer, she retired from the Army as an HRM, Sergeant First Class (2012), and she worked with a non-profit as a case worker and manager for three years with an emphasis on homeless veterans, employment, and housing. Akelo has two beautiful daughters; one is an accounting manager for the school district and the other is a soldier for the US Army.
