Treadmill Miles vs. Real Miles: Guide to Comparison & Calibration Published

SOLE Fitness has released a new guide for fitness enthusiasts wanting to learn more about how miles traveled are measured by home treadmills.

-- SOLE Fitness has published "How Much Is a Mile on a Treadmill?", a new in-depth article discussing the specifics of how treadmills measure distance.

According to the company, many runners don't think to compare miles run on the road with the distances they travel on a treadmill, but because treadmills measure miles through belt rotations, the differences can be key for workout tracking.

The difference between treadmill miles and road miles also changes with extended use, as treadmill belts can move differently over time, making workout data inaccurate. For this reason, SOLE Fitness recommends calibration every six to 12 months.

"Accurate distance readings are important for training," the company says, noting that it's a key step that many users overlook. "It means you know exactly how far you’ve gone, which helps you track progress, set goals, and make sure you’re challenging yourself. But it can also make other stats—like calories burned—more accurate."

SOLE Fitness's article mentions several treadmills that users can calibrate quickly to keep their measurements precise. Their F6X series has a starting price of $1,199.99, and each model has an easy-to-read LCD screen and a 20" x 60" running surface.

The more professional-grade F8X series offers machines more akin to the latest treadmills in commercial gyms, each with a touchscreen display. These begin with the 10.1-inch display on the F80, while the F85 has a 15.6-inch screen, and the F89 has a 21.5-inch screen. The machines also hold more weight than the F6X models, and both the F85 and F89 have decline functionality.

Alongside the above-mentioned models, SOLE Fitness has two non-folding treadmills for dedicated home gyms, namely the ST90 and TT8, built with sturdier frames and more robust belt designs.

Every purchase from SOLE Fitness includes access to the SOLE+ workout app. Users can connect this via Bluetooth, streaming on-demand videos through their phones or tablets, allowing them to use guided workouts whenever they want to train.

During the ordering process, customers can choose to have any of the treadmills delivered to a specific room in their building, and as an optional add-on, professional assembly is also available.
