Pre-Columbian Art: Galeria Contici Sells Unique, Genuine Artifacts for Seasoned and Inspired Collectors

Pre-Columbian art covers diverse artistic creations of Indigenous peoples throughout the Americas before the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492, from the intricate Olmec transformation stone masks from the Mexican and Guatemalan region to the mysterious Quipu textiles of the Inca in the Andean empire. Each artwork offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich and complex cultures that flourished in the region, revealing deep connections to nature, spirituality, and society.

Galeria Contici proudly presents genuine Pre-columbian artifacts for sale curated for seasoned and inspired collectors who appreciate their historical and cultural significance. Each handpicked piece comes with detailed descriptive information, ensuring collectors understand the context and craftsmanship of these ancient masterpieces.

Artifacts include refined ceremonial pieces and practical items such as pottery, sculptures, masks, and jewelry. The collection comprises diverse pieces, from the well-known Mesoamerican Olmec, Maya, Aztec, South American Inca, and Condorhuasi to the more obscure North American Fremont culture.

The gallery has a sizable pre-Incan Painted Stone Tablet c. 3800 – 2200 BP, a gray volcanic stone painted monochrome red in the Antimpampa style. The prominent motifs are anthropomorphous and zoomorphic figures. The scene centers on abstract three-figured humanoids with alternating inverse animals and other adjacent figurines thought to ensure the secure journey of the soul to the 'other world'.

The large Chancay Female Cuchimilco features a hollowed ceramic earthenware with uniform painting. Iron Oxide pigments create dotted triangular shapes and step patterns that adorn the figure. These figures are said to represent individuals and were usually found in the nobles' tombs to ward off evil spirits.

The gallery also carries several published pieces. The book will accompany each artifact. One fine example is a copper ceremonial knife called a "Tumi." Originating from northwest Peru, it dates back to 1 – 700 AD. Atop this copper tumi sits Ai Apaec, one of the most important deities in the Moche pantheon and the great god of creation. He is the god of the sky and mountain, a precursor to the Inca god Viracocha. The tumi features superb detailed casting, with Ai Apaec's fearsome warrior face and hair of snakes. The arms and legs' finials are intricately detailed, showing open-mouth serpents. The piece has a verdigris patina throughout.

Additional Pre-columbian Art at Galeria Contici includes the Chancay Crocodilian Vessel, Inca Serpentine Stone Axe, Paracas Copper Short Spear, Moche Copper Axe "Ai Apaec", Inca Dish with Bird Head Handle, Impressive Black Chimú Aryballos, Nazca Polychrome Cactus Star Bowl, Fine Lambayeque Stirrup Vessel, and many more. The gallery's extensive selection constantly evolves, introducing new and selective pieces.

Galeria Contici prioritizes authenticity, subjecting every valued item to rigorous microscopic analysis. By meticulously vetting each artifact to represent the specified culture and age, the team stands behind genuineness with an unconditional guarantee.

All artifacts at the gallery are ethically sourced and legally obtained through old family collections and museum deaccessions. The gallery's commitment extends to strict adherence to state and local laws, aligning with crucial articles such as the Antiquities Act of 1906, UNESCO 1970 (ratified in 1972), and UNIDROIT 1995.
