  • Maggie Wilderotter named chair-elect

NACD Northern California announced today the appointment of Ira Ehrenpreis as its new board chair and Maggie Wilderotter as chair-elect. Both leaders bring a vast wealth of experience and a strong commitment to advancing corporate governance.

Ehrenpreis, an honoree of the NACD Directorship 100™, is a venture capital investor and managing partner at DBL Partners, a leading firm in impact investing. He currently serves on the board of Tesla, where he chairs the governance and compensation committees. Under his leadership, Tesla's market capitalization has grown from approximately $100 million to over $1 trillion. He also serves as a director for several private company, university, and nonprofit boards.

In addition to his experience with public company boards, Ehrenpreis is a recognized leader in the venture capital industry. He has served on the board and executive committee of the National Venture Capital Association and was chair of the VCNetwork, the largest and most active venture capital organization in California. His extensive experience uniquely positions him to support NACD’s mission, particularly in addressing the challenges faced by private company boards, with an emphasis on oversight topics, boardroom effectiveness, and navigating complex governance issues.

Wilderotter, a 2024 NACD B. Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, is a business leader who serves on high-profile boards, including Costco Wholesale, Docusign, and Tanium. She is widely regarded as a highly experienced board leader and has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and accolades, including being named among “The Top 50 Women in World Business” by the Financial Times.

Outgoing board chair Claudia Fan Munce, NACD Directorship 100™ honoree, expressed her confidence in the new leadership. “Ira and Maggie bring a rare and invaluable combination of experience that will be instrumental in their new roles,” says Munce. “Their leadership will help guide the NACD Northern California Chapter as it continues to serve as a strategic cornerstone for the governance community nationwide.”

“It is an honor to serve as board chair of NACD Northern California, especially following in the footsteps of the extraordinary leadership of Claudia Fan Munce over the last two years of her tenure,” says Ehrenpreis.

“As business leaders, we face constant challenges that require forward-thinking strategies and strong governance practices,” says Wilderotter. “Together with Ira and the NACD Northern California board, I am committed to ensuring that our region continues to lead the way in promoting effective governance and fostering collaboration among corporate directors.”
