Dr. Surya Kalidindi receives the AIME Honorary Membership during the 2025 Annual Meeting and Exhibition of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
AIME Honorary Membership is one of the highest honors that the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers can bestow on an individual. It recognizes outstanding service or distinguished scientific or engineering achievement in the fields embracing the activities of AIME and its member societies, which includes TMS. The award was established in 1872 and is considered a pinnacle award.
Kalidindi’s award citation notes that he received the honor “For contributions to crystal plasticity models, high-throughput mechanical test protocols, and microstructure-sensitive design of structural materials using artificial intelligence toolsets.”
The award was given during the TMS 2025 Annual Meeting & Exhibition held from March 23–27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kalidindi also received the TMS Fellow award in 2015, he is an AI/ML domain expert for Materials Informatics, Manufacturing Generative AI and Digital Twins for Manufacturing and Engineering with over 30,000 citations and papers.
