Alexander brings more than 13 years of combined experience in the public and private sector, including practical knowledge from his most recent position as counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement.

In launching the new practice, the firm will advise, counsel, and defend public and private companies and individuals in investigations and enforcement matters; conduct internal investigations; and provide holistic risk management and compliance & ethics counseling.

“Starting a white collar practice has been one of our firm’s strategic goals, and the current enforcement environment presents an ideal atmosphere for doing that,” said MMM Litigation Practice Chair Jeffrey K. Douglass. “We also expect Matt’s development of a robust white collar practice to create collaborative opportunities throughout our thriving litigation practice.”

“We are seeing a renewed focus on corporate misconduct as well as individual accountability,” said Alexander. “I am excited to use my experience to help our clients navigate this increasingly complex landscape.”

“Matt brings a tremendous amount of enforcement experience and helps Morris, Manning & Martin continue to broaden our resources and footprint in D.C.,” said Carol Weld King, partner and head of the D.C. office. “In addition, he is a great cultural fit, and we are thrilled to have him join our firm.”

Alexander added: “I really wanted to build a practice from the ground up, and the entrepreneurial culture and leadership at Morris, Manning & Martin make the firm an ideal platform for me to help grow a white collar practice positioned to deliver successful and cost-effective results to clients.”

Alexander received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
