UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 4, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Perry Edmund Keating for expertise in cybersecurity. Mr. Keating currently serves as managing director and president of Protiviti Government Service Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia, a role he assumed in 2023, as well as a managing director within Protiviti's Government Data Protection Practice, a position he has held since 2017. With more than three decades of experience in government services and cybersecurity, he has demonstrated leadership in protecting physical and digital assets.

A Career Dedicated to Protection
Mr. Keating has built a career focused on safeguarding U.S. government resources. His work emphasizes the intersection of physical and digital protection, which he describes as increasingly critical as threats combine traditional attacks with cyber intrusions.
Before joining Protiviti, Mr. Keating held senior roles across the industry. From 2011 to 2017, he was chief operating officer and partner at Blue Canopy in Reston, Virginia. Between 2008 and 2011, he served as vice president of services at Avaya Government Solutions in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He also worked as senior vice president at Agilex Technologies in Chantilly, Virginia.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Keating was a partner at KPMG LLP from 1996 to 2005. His professional path began after a distinguished 20-year career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In that capacity, he focused on protecting physical assets such as military bases and facilities.
Advanced Training in Cybersecurity Risk
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Mr. Keating remains active in industry and civic organizations. He participates in the National Defense Industrial Association and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. His civic work includes involvement with a men's Bible study group and support for the United Service Organizations Inc.
Mr. Keating earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Tulane University in 1986. Three years later, he obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He later completed Harvard University's Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age program in 2018 and pursued other executive education opportunities at Harvard Business School.
Modern Digital and Physical Threats Explained
"I've had the opportunity to work at high-tech companies, which pushed my thinking," Mr. Keating says. His new perspective extends to emerging risks posed by artificial intelligence, encryption and autonomous systems. For example, malicious actors can now use AI to simulate thousands of scenarios before executing an attack. These developments create new challenges for defense systems.
Mr. Keating views cybersecurity as an ongoing contest of strategy and adaptability. He emphasizes that modern threats often involve both digital and physical elements. "If you were going to steal something, you would probably hit whatever it is digitally first. You'd knock out the power, knock out the security system, break the glass and all of that. Then, you would break in," he says.
Keys to Lasting Success
Mr. Keating attributes his achievements to his athletic and military backgrounds and experiences at leading technology companies. He also emphasizes the importance of communication. "I think your ability to organize your thoughts and communicate them in a style appropriate for whoever you're talking to is a major key to success," he says.
Since 1994, Mr. Keating has shared his expertise as a public speaker with organizations such as Federal Publications Seminars. He also mentors others in his field. Moreover, he emphasizes collaboration among diverse teams to achieve lasting results.
A Family Legacy of Service Continues
Mr. Keating enjoys photography, gardening and writing picture stories outside his professional commitments. He also serves as his family's genealogist. "I am the 10th generation of my family to have been in the service," he says. "My father went to West Point and my grandfather went to West Point."
Mr. Keating believes the next decade will present complex challenges in protecting U.S. government assets. He expects artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency and autonomous drones to heighten the difficulty of defending against physical and digital threats. However, he remains committed to contributing to national security. "I have a great sense of duty and honor to the country," he says.
