Marquis Who's Who Honors Homer A. Perez as a Top Executive

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 4, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Homer A. Perez as a Top Executive. Mr. Perez is the chief executive officer and founder of HAPA DESIGN, an architecture and design firm.

About Homer Perez

Mr. Perez grew up on the West Side of San Antonio, Texas - a neighborhood that is historically underrepresented but thriving, nonetheless. Raised in a humble environment and a close-knit family, his parents manifested key core values during his upbringing that he credits as the bedrock for his career success. He also acknowledges his mentors and educators, who generously helped him develop the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for his future success.

Mr. Perez earned a bachelor's degree in architectural design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was involved with the Mexican-American Student Association, also known as La Union Chicana por Aztlan, where he began his advocacy for more diversity in the nation's top learning institutions.

After graduation, he held various positions in the industry, including H-E-B Grocery Company, where he was an intern architect working in Mexico and McCall Design Group, where he supported several national retail brands, Moss Inc. and Sephora USA Inc. before striking out on his own.

An Expert in Architecture

Mr. Perez has over three decades of experience in his profession. His area of expertise is commercial architecture and interior design, where he specializes in retail prototype and green building design. He also provides project management and third-party consulting services. As the CEO and principal architect of HAPA DESIGN, he harnesses his extensive network in the building industry to work and collaborate on challenging and fulfilling projects.

One of Mr. Perez's proudest professional achievements was the successful completion of a retail prototype, the Elephant Pharmacy project. Not only was it an elegant design, but this project also achieved LEED CI Gold Certification and was part of a pilot initiative with the U.S. Green Building Council to create a LEED for Retail Program. The project included extensive research on green materials, resource reuse, new building technologies, and public programming. Though the retail brand was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the experience he gained was invaluable.

Putting His Talents to Good Use

Currently, Mr. Perez is entering the realm of affordable housing, which is a new avenue for him, collaborating with a nonprofit in San Antonio, Texas. The projects are for underrepresented communities in that city. It is his way of giving back.

Mr. Perez is currently NCARB-certified, which permits him to practice architecture in all 50 states. He hopes to take his talent and collaborate with other nonprofits. His fluency in spoken languages (Spanish, English, French and Russian) has also had an impact on the building industry in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he resides. In addition to managing projects, he has been asked by construction companies to teach and translate the fundamentals of construction documents to contractors and journeymen who cannot read these types of documents. This skill is an overall win to the building industry and an expression of one of his personal passions: mentorship.

Mr. Perez believes in the power of mentorship and hopes to continue guiding others into the future. For those aspiring to enter the field of architecture and design, his advice is to "feel the fear, do it anyway, and be an advocate for yourself."

Mr. Perez is the cofounder of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) San Francisco Latinx in Architecture Committee and holds memberships with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, National Organization of Minority Architects, US Green Building Council, and Retail Design Institute. He actively contributes to organizations such as Arquitina and the UC Berkeley Chicano Architects Student Association (CASA) to increase the percentage of design professionals of Latinx descent.

For his accomplishments in leadership in architecture and mentorship, Mr. Perez received the American Institute of Architects San Francisco Chapter Community Alliance Award in 2018 and was listed in the Top 20 Under 40 by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in 2011. In 2024, Mr. Perez was honored with inclusion in Marquis Who's Who.
