Changa Institute Becomes First Licensed Psilocybin Facilitator Program in Colorado to Receive Pre-Approval by DORA

Changa Institute Launches Colorado's First State-Approved Psilocybin Facilitator Training Program, Expanding Access to Psychedelic Therapy Education

PORTLAND, OR and ASPEN, CO / ACCESSWIRE / July 23, 2024 / Changa Institute, a leader in psychedelic-assisted therapy and wellness training, is excited to announce the expansion of its accredited certification program to Colorado. On July 17, Changa Institute received pre-approval from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) to provide training and certification to Colorado psilocybin facilitators. Colorado is the second state to legalize psilocybin services, including production and administration. Starting September 9, 2024, Changa Institute will offer comprehensive training in psilocybin facilitation in Colorado, approved by the Board of Higher Education, OHA, DORA, and the Office of Natural Medicine.

A New Milestone for Changa Institute

"We're thrilled to bring our expertise to Colorado," said Lisa Ginzburg, founder of Changa Institute. "As the first state-approved school to provide psilocybin facilitation training in Colorado, we are at the forefront of this transformative field, ensuring our students receive the highest quality training and support."

Changa Institute, based in Oregon, has already made history with its graduates, who became the nation's first licensed psilocybin facilitators in April 2023. Over a quarter of Oregon's licensed psilocybin service centers are operated by Changa alums, reflecting the high standards and success of its training programs.

About Changa Institute

At Changa Institute, our mission is to advance mental health care through quality training in psychedelic-assisted therapy and wellness. Our comprehensive program includes interactive discussions, case-based learning, hands-on training, practicums, consultations, and mentorship opportunities, supporting our students in becoming proficient practitioners. We are proud to have an esteemed faculty that includes experts from renowned institutions such as the NYU Psychedelic Research Center, University of San Francisco, Johns Hopkins University, Arizona State University, and Imperial College London. These distinguished professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring our students receive unparalleled education and guidance in this groundbreaking field.

Virtual Training with Real-World Impact

The new Colorado psilocybin certification program will be delivered virtually, allowing participants to engage in live training sessions via Zoom. The curriculum combines lectures, case studies, and role plays to provide an immersive and practical learning experience. Upon completion, students will participate in practicum placements, gaining hands-on experience at service centers operated by Changa alumni in Oregon.

Commitment to Excellence and Continuing Education

Changa Institute's approval by the Board of Higher Education, OHA, DORA, and the Office of Natural Medicine underscores its commitment to high-quality education. The program not only trains new facilitators but also offers continuing education, ensuring that professionals maintain and enhance their skills. Colorado requires ongoing professional consultation and additional coursework to maintain licensure, which Changa Institute is fully equipped to provide.

Engagement with the Psychedelic Community

To mark the expansion, Changa Institute will be participating in PsyCon, a major psychedelic conference in Colorado this October. Lisa Ginzburg has been invited to speak at the event, and the institute will have a booth to engage with attendees.

A Personal Connection

"I love Colorado," shared Ginzburg. "It's one of the most beautiful states, with its diverse nature, fantastic culture, and community. Every year, I visit Aspen to ski, and it's during these visits that I've been inspired by the state's natural beauty and the healing it offers."

Ginzburg recounted a personal story that underscores the importance of connection and self-awareness, a key focus of Changa's training philosophy. "A few years ago, I was in a ski shop in Aspen, and I saw a man who couldn't decide which ski boots felt right for him without someone else's opinion. It made me realize how disconnected we can be from our own bodies and minds. Our goal at Changa is to help people reconnect with themselves and the world around them, and psychedelics can play a significant role in that."

Looking Ahead

Changa Institute's expansion into Colorado is a significant step towards its goal of providing quality psychedelic-assisted therapy training across the nation. "We see huge potential in psychedelic therapy," said Ginzburg. "Our plan is to support our students and alumni by providing comprehensive, accredited, and reputable training and to expand our reach to every state that legalizes psychedelic-assisted therapy."
