NORTH CHARLESTON, SC / ACCESSWIRE / July 11, 2024 / Two weeks ago, two homeowners in North Charleston experienced a devastating fire that resulted in the total loss of their home and belongings. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire. The homeowners were out running errands on a Saturday when they received a call from their smart home security system, alerting them to the emergency. By the time the call came in, their neighbors had already dialed 911, but it was too late to save their home.
Additionally, one of the firefighters who responded to the inferno was injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, the firefighter is expected to make a full recovery.
In a tremendous show of community support, locally-owned UNITS Moving & Portable Storage stepped in to assist the displaced homeowners. The victims, who are family members of a UNITS employee, have received two portable storage containers from the local UNITS franchise to help them store the belongings they managed to salvage. Additionally, UNITS is providing moving services to aid in their recovery process.
UNITS is also making a monetary donation to the injured firefighter, recognizing the bravery and sacrifices made by first responders in such critical situations.
The fire's cause, as confirmed by the smart home cameras, was a faulty television. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness.
