Craig Shults: From Small-Town Roots to CFO Success

How Resilience, Lifelong Learning, and Leadership Shaped an Inspiring Career Journey

ORANGE COUNTY, CA / ACCESSWIRE / December 31, 2024 / Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning are the cornerstones of Craig Shults' inspiring journey. Born and raised in the beautiful Mohawk Valley of Upstate New York, Craig's life is a testament to the power of hard work and perseverance. Today, as Controller and CFO at JSL Construction, Craig reflects on his career, the lessons he's learned, and his approach to turning challenges into opportunities in an exclusive new online interview.

Craig's story begins in a small town where his family instilled in him the values of discipline, integrity, and education. "Every experience shapes you," he shares. "What matters is how you grow from it." These early lessons propelled him toward a path of continuous growth and achievement.

In 2016, Craig earned an Associate of Arts degree in General Business from Taft College, but his educational journey didn't stop there. By 2023, he completed multiple degrees, including Sociology, American Studies, and Social and Behavioral Sciences from Coastline College, as well as a paralegal certificate from Blackstone Career Institute, graduating with high honors. For Craig, education is not just a stepping stone but a foundation for success. "It's something no one can take away," he says.

Craig's professional career is as diverse as his academic background. From working in insurance with Combined Life Insurance of New York and Metropolitan Life Insurance to transitioning into home improvement sales with Tristate Windows, Craig honed his skills in financial planning, customer service, and problem-solving. These experiences laid the groundwork for his current role at JSL Construction, where he oversees financial operations, manages cash flow, and drives business strategies.

"Every role taught me something valuable," Craig reflects. "Growth comes from all kinds of experiences."

But Craig's success isn't limited to his professional life. Outside of work, he is passionate about fitness, cooking, and travel-activities that keep him balanced and energized. Giving back to the community is also a cornerstone of his life, as he actively supports organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "Helping others reminds me of what's truly important," he says. "It's how I stay connected to my values."

In the interview, Craig shares powerful insights on adaptability, collaboration, and the importance of humility. "Life doesn't hand you a script," he explains. "The ability to pivot and adjust to the unexpected has been my biggest strength." He also emphasizes the value of listening, noting that the best results often come from being open to feedback and diverse perspectives.

For Craig, success isn't about titles or material wealth; it's about making a difference in the lives of others. Whether through his leadership at JSL Construction or his community efforts, he aims to leave a lasting legacy of kindness, growth, and achievement. "If I can make someone's life better, that's what really counts," he says.
