Item 8.01 Other Information
     On May 17, 2007, Global Industries, Ltd. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that B.K. Chin has been elected as Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) effective May 16, 2007. Mr. Chin’s appointment follows the previously announced planned retirement of Mr. William J. Doré, the Company’s founder, who served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board since 1973.
     A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Report and is incorporated by reference into this Item 8.01.
