                    result of extraordinary general meeting

Spirent plc (LSE: SPT; NYSE: SPM), a leading international network technology
company, announces that at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company held
today, the Ordinary Resolution approving the proposed divestment of the Group's
interests in WAGO, its interconnection joint venture, as set out in the Notice
of the Meeting sent to shareholders on 12 March 2003, was duly passed.

The divestment is expected to complete in early April 2003.
